Mountain weather is forgotten fast. A pass can close at midnight, reopen by dawn, and leave no trace anywhere a driver can check the next day. This archive keeps the trace: after every significant storm on the Washington Cascade crossings, a recap lands here with what WSDOT posted, when the chain requirement went up, when avalanche control or a closure stopped traffic, and when the road reopened.
A recap is written when a storm changes the drive in a way drivers would plan around: a chains required posting on any of the four passes, an avalanche control hold on I-90, a closure of any length, or snowfall heavy enough to stack ski and freight traffic for hours. Light snow days that never rise past traction tires advised do not get a page; the status history already records them.
Each recap is built from the same WSDOT reports the live pages carry, cross checked against the status history log, so the times in a recap are posting times, not guesses.
The season log opened on Nov 4, 2026. The first recap of the season will appear here after the first qualifying storm. Until then, the live record is the pass status history, which is already logging every posting change on Snoqualmie, Stevens, White, and Blewett passes.
When a storm is on the passes right now, the pages that matter are the closures and alerts hub, the Snoqualmie Pass page, and the I-90 camera strip. Recaps are for the day after; those pages are for the drive itself.
